Manually Adding a Printer on Mac
- Go to your Apple Menu in the top left
- Click on System Settings
- Scroll down to Printers and Scanners on the sidebar and click on it
- Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button on the right
- Click the IP button
- Enter printer information:
- In the Address box, paste in the IP address of your desired printer. This can be found in the list of PME Printers link at the top of this article.
- In the Protocol box, choose HP Jetdirect – Socket if the model name of your printer begins with HP, otherwise choose IPP
- If you are having issues with an HP printer, try the LPD protocol instead
- Your device will automatically detect the location of the printer. Set the printer name to the same name as the location.
- Click on Use and change it to Generic PCL Printer
- Your final entry should look similar to this:
- Click add to complete the process
