Manually Adding a Printer on Mac

  1. Go to your Apple Menu in the top left
  2. Click on System Settings
  3. Scroll down to Printers and Scanners on the sidebar and click on it
  4. Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button on the right
  5. Click the IP button
  6. Enter printer information:
    1. In the Address box, paste in the IP address of your desired printer. This can be found in the list of PME Printers link at the top of this article.
    2. In the Protocol box, choose HP Jetdirect – Socket if the model name of your printer begins with HP, otherwise choose IPP
      1. If you are having issues with an HP printer, try the LPD protocol instead
  7. Your device will automatically detect the location of the printer. Set the printer name to the same name as the location.
  8. Click on Use and change it to Generic PCL Printer
  9. Your final entry should look similar to this:
  10. Click add to complete the process
